Ready to take that road trip to Charleston? We understand the need to satisfy the craving for a beach vacation. Before you hit the gas pedal and embark on your journey, ask yourself: Is my Audi equipped to handle all those miles? The last thing you need is car trouble right before you start your summer adventure. That’s why the team here at Audi Greenville has compiled a list of summer maintenance tips we highly suggest you follow. Plus, if your ride needs maintenance, you can schedule a service appointment with our expert technicians and we’ll get your car ready to head out on the open road.

Air Conditioning
One of the most important components of your Audi during the summer months is the air conditioning. To check its functionality, simply turn on your car and start the A/C. It may take a few minutes, but wait until cold air starts to blow from the vents. If cool air never comes out or the air conditioning isn’t working at all, you may have a leak in the system that's causing a low refrigerant level. You’ll want to address this issue as soon as possible, especially since we live in hot South Carolina weather. Purchase a leak sealant and repair the leak yourself, or let our skilled technicians take care of the job for you!
Tire Condition
Your tires can be extremely sensitive to the rapid change in outdoor temperatures and can either gain or lose pressure as a result. It’s essential that you maintain the correct amount of pressure in your tires because if they’re underinflated, they’ll wear out more quickly. Since we’re entering a new season, refer to your owner’s manual for the specific PSI your model requires. Next, all you’ll need is a tire pressure gauge and an air pump (which can be located at your local gas station).
While you’re filling the tires up, examine them to ensure there aren’t any nails or debris puncturing them and causing a slow leak. In addition, you’ll want to check to see if your tread is deep enough for safe driving. This calls for the penny test — simply insert one with Lincoln’s face upside down into the grooves of your tires, and if you still see his head, you may need a replacement. Overworn tires are prone to blowouts, so visit our tire center and we’ll hook you up with a brand-new set.

Fluid Levels
You may need to check if your vehicle’s fluids need a top off at the start of a new season as well. This includes your oil, windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid, power-steering fluid and coolant. For the summertime, coolant is crucial in preventing your engine from overheating, which is a common issue during this time of year. If you’re unsure of how to check any of these fluids, visit our service center and our team can take a look for you.
Windshield Wipers
You most likely used your windshield wipers heavily during the winter and spring months, from heavy rains to pollen accumulating on the glass. Naturally, this increase in use causes your wipers to wear out rapidly. If you notice your windshield wipers aren’t clearing your view while you’re driving or they’re making loud noises when they pass over the glass, you may need to replace them. Luckily, we’re always stocked with plenty of windshield wipers in our parts department.

Cabin Air Filter
Thank your cabin air filter for providing the clean air you breathe during your daily commute. However, if you notice an unpleasant smell coming from the vents, it may be a sign you need to replace the filter. It’s vital that you regularly change your cabin air filter to ensure that your ride is continuously circulating fresh air throughout your cabin. This filter is located conveniently behind your glovebox, so it wouldn’t be difficult to replace yourself. Luckily here at Audi Greenville, we sell genuine OEM parts (including air filters) that will fit like a glove within your Audi. If you’d prefer a professional to replace the cabin air filter for you, one of our technicians can install it for you.
