1. Change to Winter Tires

If you haven’t considered it before, you should look into changing out your old tires for a set of winter tires for the colder season. Having a backup set of tires is beneficial because they will be tackling a whole different terrain compared to the warmer months, when you were dealing with rubber melting across the hot surfaces of the highway. Fun fact: A tire loses one pound of pressure for every 10-degree temperature drop. So make sure you have a handheld tire gauge to check pressure frequently and fill your tires with air when needed.

2. Keep Your Tank Full

Freezing temperatures can be harsh on your gas tank during this time of year. Colder temperatures can create water accumulation in the tank, leading it to freeze over. Not good! So, we recommend keeping a full tank of gas in your vehicle as much and as often as possible. This will prevent any moisture from entering your tank and also provide you with warmth and a safe place to wait out any storm you could potentially get stuck in.

3. Keep Cool with Coolant/Antifreeze

Another very important fluid we sometimes overlook is the coolant/antifreeze our radiators need to keep the engine from freezing. Keeping these fluids topped off will ensure your vehicle will not freeze over this winter.

4. Have a Survival Kit

Just in case, you should prepare your vehicle with the appropriate items to keep you and your passengers safe in the event of an accident or you become stranded and have to wait for help.
